UV stands for ultraviolet light. Ultraviolet light represents the frequency of light between 100 nanometers (nm) and 400nm and cannot be seen with the naked eye. Within the UV spectrum lie three distinct bands of light: UV-A, UV-B and UV-C.
UV-A (400nm-315nm): The long wave UV light (315nm to 400nm) or UV-A refers to what we commonly call “black light.” This is the longest wavelength region and has the lowest energy. UV-A represents the largest portion of natural UV light.
UV-B (315nm-280nm): The UV-B (280nm to 315nm), or mid-range UV, causes sunburn.
UV-C (280nm-100nm): The germicidal UV light (100nm to 280nm), or UV-C, is effective in microbial control.
Scientific research has proven that the most effective frequency for microbial destruction is between 280nm and 200nm, which is within the UV-C band, which is the one used by our sterilizer stick. Therefore, as long as the nm frequency of a germicidal lamp is well controlled within that range, the microorganisms will be destroyed effectively.
Please note: Opportunities for infection are abundant and virtually everywhere, so it is important to realize that use of SterilOne™ UVL Sterilizer Stick does not guarantee that the user will avoid illness. To avoid microbial infection, one must take a wide range of precautions. Use of tSterilOne™ UVL Sterilizer Stick is an important precaution, but not the only precaution that one should take.
UVL sterilization works by breaking down certain chemical bonds and scrambling the structure of DNA, RNA and proteins, causing a microorganism (e.g. virus, bacteria) to be unable to multiply. When a microorganism is unable to multiply, it is considered dead since it cannot reproduce within a host and is no longer infectious.
UVL sterilisation has been successfully used for sterilization and disinfection as early as the mid-20th century, which demonstrates its safety and effectiveness. With advancements in technology, it has broadened the field for where it can be used, from water and food disinfection to surgical utensils.
Hold SterilOne™ UVL Sterilizer Stick approximately 5 cm/2 inches from the surface/object and gradually move the sterilizer stick over the entire area. Allow an exposure of 30-60 seconds to ensure optimum results.
SterilOne™ UVL Sterilizer Stick takes 40 minutes from zero power to the full charge point. After the battery is fully charged, it can work continuously for 6-8 hours (always under the state of ultraviolet radiation). Using it for 10 minutes daily can ensure that you do not need to charge for one month.
The energy output of the UVL of our sterilizer stick is between 240-280nm which is the light frequency tested to be effective for ultraviolet germicidal irradiation. This is also approved and certified for safe personal use.
